Milk Stool Course - March

Learn the foundations of traditional chair making in this immersive two-day workshop. Together with Georg and furniture maker Dirk Ettema, you’ll design and build your own three-legged stool from scratch — no prior woodworking experience needed.

We’ll start with sketching and exploring your ideas, with plenty of room to get creative and shape a design that feels like your own. From there, you’ll prepare and shape the legs and seat, and learn how traditional chair joinery works in practice

Along the way, you’ll get hands-on experience with a whole range of classic tools — experimenting with different types of hand planes and spokeshaves, handsaws, rasps, and more — while discovering the purpose, feel, and best uses of each tool.

By the end of day two, you’ll assemble your stool and bring it to life with a traditional finish: colouring with milk paint and sealing everything with natural oil.

t’s an intensive, friendly, hands-on experience packed with guidance, demonstrations, and plenty of time at the bench — and you’ll go home with a unique, beautifully crafted stool designed and made by you.
