The Modern Shaker Rocking Chair is a contemporary reinterpretation of the classic Shaker rocking chair. By removing much of the traditional ornamentation, the design focuses on clean lines, balanced proportions, and refined details—resulting in a chair that feels both timeless and modern.

The back slats are seamlessly set into the rear posts and feature a narrow, gently curved profile for comfort and visual lightness. Subtle brass details are used throughout the chair, adding structural rigidity while introducing a warm material contrast to the solid wood construction.

The chair shown is crafted from locally sourced Dutch elm, salvaged from the Amsterdam city area. Other suitable wood species include oak, ash, walnut, and cherry. While the prototype features a handwoven Danish paper cord seat, all future versions of the Modern Shaker Rocking Chair will be produced with traditional Shaker tape seating.

Each chair is handcrafted to order using traditional woodworking techniques and high-quality materials.
