This bar stool was the first piece of fine furniture I ever built, and it remains one of my favourite designs to this day. Its gently sculpted seat is shaped for comfort, inviting you to sit and stay awhile.

Each seat is carved entirely by hand using a traditional travisher plane—an ancient woodworking tool that allows me to remove material quickly while maintaining absolute control. This process lets me refine the curves with precision, finding the perfect balance between form, comfort, and elegance.

The stool shown is crafted from European walnut for the seat and American walnut for the legs, finished with a natural satin hard wax that highlights the depth and character of the wood. However, every stool is made to order and fully customizable. A wide range of wood species and finishes is available, including ash, elm, oak, or ebonized oak. A three-legged version of this design is also available upon request, e.g. for very uneven floors.
