The Max

The Max and Little Max are inspired by the Pi Stool series by the UK based design cooperative ParAvion and evoke modern Danish design and Japanese elements. The stools and benches can be used as foot stools, (bed)side tables, benches or ottomans and will last you a lifetime.

The Max is an intricate piece with a number of hand-cut mortice and tenon joints. The weaving process can take up to 2 days to achieve an exceptionally tight and uniform result.

In my version, I employ traditional hand-cut wood joinery, making the construction visible where possible with accented wood details. The seat is hand woven from Danish Paper Cord, available in natural beige, black or white.

The examples in the images are made from White Oak with a slight white-wash matt hard wax finish, accentuating the clean and simple Scandinavian design.
